Another infatuation...

So while I have been "mind" decorating our new home, I wanted something that would personalize it. Nothing to cheesy, but something that really made a statement. I ran through several options and knew exactly what it was going to be when I saw this:

Say what?! Trust me.. I wasn't diggin' the actual painting, although pretty in it's own way. It was the double frame that did it.. oh and the fact that it is a HUGE piece and was only $5!!

So just exactly what was I thinking you ask? Why this of course:

I painted it the same color as the buffet that will hold the TV, added a light glaze and a little distress, then she was ready for her Uppercase Living makeover!! She is perfect! I can't wait to hang her above our new sofa.

For the love of furniture...

So I have to confess... I have been very OCD with furniture lately! It doesn't matter if it is a small piece or a large piece, my mind has been spinning in several different directions, but always ends up in the same spot... FOR THE LOVE OF FURNITURE!
We are currently in the process of building a home. For some reason, I have decided to completely change EVERY bit of decor in EVERY room for the new house. I have sold and bought and refinished to my little hearts desire. Did I mention how much fun I am having with this?
Here is one of my recent projects (before & after of course)~
This beauty stole my heart from the moment I saw her on Craigslist! She was a bit too expensive and was part of a dining set. She had a top hutch that is now being loved by another family. I knew I had to have her one way or another, so I decided to see if I could work a deal. Much to my surprise, the owner had no problem parting her out of the set and I actually talked him down to half the price he started with (not that she wasn't worth it)!! So here she sits as we brought her home...
And here is the new and improved, the much more my style kind a gal...

Isn't she just breathtaking? I truly am in love!! She will hold our massive TV, along with all the DVD's, Wii games and other not so pretty items that are better left unseen.

Here are a few close ups and one of the vintage wallpaper shelf liner I used for the inside of the cabinets and drawers...
